Okeechobee is ranch country on the north shore of the lake, and that gives us a customer base built around cattle, agriculture and the yards that keep them running. Wash bays, oil separators and shop drains at equipment and truck operations are the steady work, and the material coming out of them is regulated, so it goes to an approved facility with documentation rather than anywhere convenient. Agricultural properties need drainage ditches, culverts and structures kept open, because on flat ground beside a lake this size water does not resolve itself. County, school and fairground facilities plus the highway restaurant kitchens take trap service and line jetting on schedule. Getting a truck in

This is a long run and we treat it that way, grouping the town into one trip and sizing the day to what the tank carries, because the haul back to a disposal facility is the longest part of it. US 441 and State Road 70 are the arteries, both carrying cattle trailers and farm equipment at their own pace. Ranch and pasture approaches are private drives with gates, livestock and surfaces that turn soft after rain, so we call ahead, come in slow and shut the pump down when animals are near. Downtown work off Park Street and Parrott Avenue is straightforward, wide streets and room to set up.

Through the year

Cattle and agricultural cycles run this calendar, along with the events that fill the fairground and the lake side, which land mostly in the cooler months and pull a burst of kitchen and facility work with them. The warm months are quieter and better for the deep maintenance, separators serviced, lines jetted, ditches and culverts cut back. Wet season is the one that decides things on flat ground beside the lake, since water stands where drainage is not clear, so we get structures open ahead of the rains. Storm preparation is taken seriously on this shore.
