Hollywood leans environmental for us, and the reason is the beach. A Broadwalk kitchen with seating on the sand runs a small trap under enormous load, and small traps on heavy load need a schedule, not a phone call at eleven at night. We put those accounts on a route and keep the records, because Hollywood administers grease through its own utility and the file the inspector asks for is the file we hand over. The hospital campus and the beach hotels are a different animal, large interceptors and long runs of line that want jetting as much as pumping. Excavation work here is usually smaller and surgical: exposing a service lateral in Hollywood Lakes without tearing up a root system, or opening a hole in the beach section where the water shows up almost immediately.
Getting a truck in
The beach side is the constraint. The Broadwalk itself takes no truck at all, so we work from the street behind and run hose the rest of the way, and we do most of it before the walk fills up. Downtown along Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison the parking is angled and the curb lanes disappear during dinner, so late night is the honest window. Hollywood Lakes has room but heavy canopy and low branches, and we check clearance before a tanker turns in. Federal Highway and State Road 7 both move well outside peak, which is how we plan the drive. Hospital service drives are shared with ambulances, so we stay clear of them.
Through the year
Winter fills every seat on the beach and the traps fill with it, so the accounts that get pumped quarterly the rest of the year often need a tighter interval from January through spring. Summer rain is when the low blocks near the beach take on water and basins that were never cleared start backing into parking lots. King tides push water up through the storm system on the lowest streets in fall, and it does not take a storm for that to happen. We schedule big preventive work in the late summer lull.
